Generic Products vs The "Real Thing":  It makes a difference!

DON'T BE FOOLED by thinking "Generic Products" are the same as the "Real Thing".  While the ingredients may be the same, the way they are put together aren't.  For instance, take your favorite cake recipe, and literally throw the ingredients in a pan and cook them for a while at no particular temperature, and what do you have?  Now take the ingredients and blend them properly, bake them in a pre-heated oven for the prescribed amount of time, and see what you have.  Big difference!

When Dr. Ron DiSalvo, chief Cosmetic Chemist for John Paul Mitchell Systems shared this with me, he stated his case loud and clear.  Dr. DiSalvo also shared with me that it took him 6 months just to create their "Sculpting Lotion", the first wet line styling gel with memory, that is totally non-flaky & could be re-activated with either heat or water.  He explained that it had to be "cooked" at a certain temperature for a certain amount of time, and they had one heck of a time getting it right!!

Hair Color Products:  It's whats in it that counts!

The difference between high quality permanent hair color salon products and many others on the market is the "ammonia content"-the ammonia is what damages hair.  Off-the-shelf products are generally 17-22% ammonia, whereas salon products are only about 2-4% ammonia.  That's a big difference!  Coal Tar is also an ingredient that may have adverse health affects, and higher quality hair color products minimize the use of this ingredient as well, to avoid health risk.
